Pr-Nd Market Update: Firm Offers and Cautious NdFeB Magnet Buying

Shanghai Metals Market’s September 4 morning update described slightly firmer Pr-Nd oxide and alloy indications, while actual transaction follow-through remained limited. The same report said downstream magnetic-material demand was cautious and NdFeB blank quotations were broadly stable at the time of reporting.

For companies buying NdFeB magnets, the important signal is the combination of two conditions: suppliers may hold offers firm when raw-material sentiment improves, while end users may delay purchases until their own demand visibility improves. That can make spot quotations less predictable even when finished-magnet prices have not moved sharply.

This market snapshot is not a price forecast. It is a reminder to make quotation terms operationally clear. A useful RFQ should identify magnet grade, shape, tolerances, coating, magnetization direction, inspection requirements, forecast volume, and the period for which a quoted price is valid.

Buyers with recurring demand can also separate a project’s technical qualification from its commercial ordering cycle. Confirm samples and quality documents first; then agree a replenishment approach that fits the customer’s inventory policy and the supplier’s material-purchase lead time.
