NdFeB Scrap Prices Stabilize: What Magnet Buyers Should Watch

Recycled NdFeB magnet feedstock remained a closely watched part of the rare-earth supply chain this week. Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) reported that recycled Pr-Nd from NdFeB scrap ended the period at RMB 755–765/kg, after rising modestly and then holding steady.

SMM attributed the pattern to a combination of firmer supplier expectations, selective replenishment by recyclers, and limited completion of higher-priced transactions. The same report listed recycled dysprosium and terbium from NdFeB scrap at RMB 1,230–1,250/kg and RMB 5,600–5,800/kg respectively.

What this can mean for magnet manufacturers

For purchasing teams, a stable scrap market does not automatically mean stable conversion costs. Availability, alloy specification, recovery yield, and the timing of raw-material purchases can all affect the usable cost of recycled material. A practical response is to keep specifications and acceptance criteria clear when comparing recycled feedstock with primary raw materials.

Focus on supply continuity, not only the quoted price

SMM described a market with cautious procurement and restrained transactions. Manufacturers that use recycled inputs can review supplier qualification, incoming-material testing, and inventory coverage alongside price discussions. These checks help maintain consistency for NdFeB production programs when market activity is thin.

This is an independent industry rewrite for B2B readers and is not a price forecast or purchasing recommendation.
